Hi, my name is Matt McGill.
Hokma is the Hebrew word for wisdom. This blog is focused on the pursuit of wisdom for our personal lives and leadership.
I’ve been serving in full-time ministry since 1995. I’ve led all kinds of teams, most of them involved youth ministry and a few have been with adult ministry.
I’ve served in a variety of roles: intern, team member, pastor, director of discipleship (Living on the Edge), managing editor (pastors.com), served on the executive team at Saddleback Church, and teaching pastor at New Life Church in Pismo Beach.
I currently serve as the high school pastor at Mariners Church, with two of my closest friends: Doug Fields and Josh Griffin.
I’ve been married to Misha for almost 25 years and we have 5 kids. All boys. Although it’s a little cheesy, all of their names start with the letter M: Max, Marc, Morgan, Miller, and Mac.
For fun, I’m an amateur woodworker, below average gamer, and an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy books.
